- Akudama Drive was meant to start airing on July 7, 2020, but was put off due to the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic, and finally released on October 8. For this reason, its manga adaptation's first chapter wound up releasing ahead of the anime, on July 6.
- On December 25, 2020, the day that followed the anime's finale, character designer and animation director Cindy Yamauchi tweeted a response in English to the large amount of requests for a Season 2. In it, she requested that people take time to appreciate the first season before they ask for more. In a following Tweet, she clarified that she does not have the information or authority to decide on a Season 2.
