SPEED is the fourth episode of Akudama Drive.

Synopsis

The Shinkansen speeds ahead, hurtling the crew towards certain death. As they race against time to reach the vault, Executioners show up to derail their plans.

History

On their way to complete their mission, the Akudama are attacked by the two Executioners again. The Courier and Brawler face them but are overpowered. The Doctor, Cutthroat and Hoodlum assist them while the Swindler and Hacker work alongside the Black Cat on their original objective. Once they finally reach the last carriage, the Black Cat disintegrates into ash, leaving behind a special seal required to unlock the vault. When they open the vault, the Akudama find two children inside, one of the two revealing himself to be the person in control of the Black Cat.

Trivia

• The title of the episode, SPEED, along with its themes, are a reference to its namesake, Speed, directed by Jan de Bont.
  • In the episode, the Akudama get on board a moving train, the Shinkansen, which they can't stop from speeding ahead towards certain death. Similarly, Speed protagonist Jack Traven has to get on board a moving bus, which he can't stop from speeding ahead despite all danger.
